Hillingdon Narrowboats is a charity which owns and operate six narrowboats on the Grand Union Canal, based in Harefield, West London.
Much of our work is with schools, Scout, Guide, Cubs and Brownies groups, disadvantaged people, DoE Gold students, Princes Trust and other community or voluntary groups, where we provide boats for anything from a single afternoon to a full five-day event on the local canal system.
We provide training under the auspices of the National Community Boat Association, at a number of levels, which are one to four day courses and are suitable for anyone, of any experience – from complete novice, up to experienced boaters. .
We also provide private and corporate hire: We have provided boats for team-building events, a family reunion (with members flying in from all parts of the globe); a five day adventure with three boats for a local school; countless Beaver, Cub and Scout narrowboat camps; and much more.
Every year, we run special events, such as our very popular Santa Specials in December, which saw over 600 passengers join us for a trip to see Santa in his canal-side grotto.
Whatever your background, and whatever you’re doing, narrowboating has something for everyone. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, get in touch and we’ll be able to come up with something fun, educational, relaxing or motivating. We look forward to boating with you soon
