On the first Sunday of each month (except January), our volunteers come together to work in and around the boathouse. Whether that’s giving a boat a deep clean, jet-washing the quayside, painting the boathouse, pulling up weeds around our adopted lock or tidying the workshop, there’s something for everyone. There’s always something to do at HNA, and a few hours of your time is very much appreciated.
We’ll supply endless cups of tea and coffee (and sometimes even biscuits!) and we usually round off the day with a short trip up the canal to Rickmansworth, where you can sit and relax for a few hours and watch canal life go by, or you can use the opportunity to catch up on the gossip!
No particular skill is needed, although if you have a skill (plumbing, electrical, carpentry – the list is endless) we’ve got a use for it.
Volunteer days start at around 10.00, and we’ll usually be heading off for a short trip around 2.00pm or so, aiming to get back to the boathouse for around 5.30pm.
If you’re interested in what we do, this is a good way to start. Feel free to drop in on the first Sunday of the month at the boathouse, or give us a call first if you’d prefer.
